4 Tips To Help You Plan The Perfect Graduation Party

With spring just around the corner, many people are focusing on graduations, which means planning graduation parties. Whether it’s highschool or college, graduates deserve a day to celebrate their achievements. Graduation parties usually involve many friends and family, good food, and serious planning. Here are some tips to help you plan the best graduation party.

Pick the right party foods

Some graduates may have their heart set on a particular menu. They often choose foods that will be a hit with their friends or something they’ve enjoyed over the years. Sandwich trays are an easy option, as they can have many types of sandwiches and are easy to grab. Many times food choices can be incorporated into a buffet-style meal. Catering is also another option for graduation parties. Having your party catered can give you more time to spend with friends and family.

Many of your guests may be attending multiple graduation parties. Some of these could be on the same day as yours, so you won’t want to get too much food. Smaller meals, like sandwiches, cheese and fruit trays, and pastries, provide delicious options to all of your guests. You can also have heavier foods like burgers and pizza, or unique dishes including quiches, casseroles, salads, and soups.

Cake is the traditional dessert that is served at graduation parties. You can create a custom cake that tells a story about your graduate or one that matches their personality. Check with your local bakery about creating a unique cake for your graduate. They often have experience in customizing graduation desserts and can help you choose the right cake. If your graduate prefers other desserts, you can also choose cupcakes, cookies, pastries, and even mini tarts.

Choose beverages wisely

Bottled water is a cheap and easy option for drinks. Fruit punch and tea are also simple and affordable drinks. Coffee can be a good option as it goes well with cake, but may not be for everyone, so be sure to have other options available. Soft drinks can be expensive, but a variety of canned soda is appreciated during any party. If you are going to choose a single drink for the event, bottled water is the safest choice.

Host the party somewhere convenient

Where you hold the graduation party depends on several factors. Is the size of your home enough to accommodate the amount of guests you invite? Do you have time to prepare your home for a large party? Some graduation parties are held in the backyard of the graduate’s house or garage, while others hold an open-house style event. You can also host the party at a park or public garden. Local catering services should be able to deliver and set up your food and beverages at almost any location.

When to hold the celebration

If your graduate’s ceremony occurs at the end of May or early June, celebrations typically follow within the next two weeks. May and June will be the busiest months, so you will have to plan early to get your party scheduled if you decide to use catering services. Having your party later in the summer will allow your graduate to attend other celebrations, give you more time to prepare, and allow more guests to attend.

No matter what day you choose or which foods you serve, make this day about your graduate. Celebrating past accomplishments and looking forward to a bright future should be the primary focus of the day.
